Divorce
When “I do” turns into “I don’t.”
The last thing divorcing spouses need is more emotional, mental, and logistical confusion. Even amicable divorces can escalate quickly if both parties do not obtain the proper information and knowledgeable representation they require. At Kaur Family Law, we pride ourselves in guiding our clients through the marshes of divorce and into their separate futures gracefully. We advocate for clients across all counties within California, with a special focus on Santa Barbara County. By using our experience and emotional intelligence, we provide the best services and outcomes possible.
What is Divorce, and why is it so daunting?
Divorce is the conclusion of a marriage; at the end of the divorce process, both parties involved will be considered single by law. The divorce process begins when one party serves the other specific paperwork, and it ends when both parties agree on the various stipulations. If both parties are able to agree on all aspects of a divorce (child custody and visitation, spousal support, the division of assets, etc.), then the divorce process will be relatively smooth. However, this ease is rare. Contested divorce is when one party does not agree to some or all of the divorce stipulations so the process must sometimes be settled in court. It is important to have an experienced Family Law Attorney by your side through this process.
Divorce or Legal Separation—what’s the difference?
Legal separation allows couples to maintain their marital status while living apart. While legal separation is not divorce, it can lead to many of the same hurdles in need of resolution. To learn more about Legal Separation, click here.
